Large-scale study of hydraulic separation of granatiferous abrasives
Main Article Content
Abstract
Based on laboratory-scale hydraulic separation studies conducted with the granatiferous ore from the "La Yuca" deposit, belonging to the Hierro Santiago region, concentrates were obtained between 80-95% of garnet content. Following the same technological scheme developed in the Research Center for the mining-metallurgical industry (CIPIMM), consisting of magnetic separation - hydraulic classification, the objective of this work is to obtain concentrates through hydraulic columns with a high percentage of garnet at scale expanded, to be used among other uses, in the polishing of metal structures of dental prostheses. The hydraulic column of pilot plant designed in the center to classify the concentrates on an enlarged scale works from the Stokes law similar to the columns used in the laboratory tests, where it defines the speed of fall of a particle within a fluid. The results obtained in the extended scale test were 62.56% yield by weight, with 83.36% recovery of the useful fraction, with a value of up to 95% of garnet mineral content in the fraction of interest
