Abstract

The main objective of present work is the mineralogical identification of the cromitites mine Victoria I, including precious metals. The four samples were prepared for granulometric analysis. The mineralogical characterization of the cromite ores requires the use of analytical methods and instrumental techniques as they are: chemical analysis of majority elements by ICP-AES Spectroflame model of the Germany SPECTRO firm; qualitative phase analysis by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) using PANalytical equipment PW-3064 serie. The CDB-TG-D1TG termograms were obtained by equipment of Germany NETZSCH firm STA 449 F3 model. It was also carried out studies of detailed optic microscopy MEIJI with digital camera SONY and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) TESCAN, 5130 SB model and energy dispersive X-ray microanalysis (EDS) OXFORD INSTRUMENT, INCA 350 model. Were stablished mayority phases (cromite spinels, iron oxides, cuartz and serpentines) and alteration minerals (feldespars, chlorites, brucite, muscovite, calcite). The results of SEM show the presence of native gold, silver and nickel minerals (hislevudite and pentlandite).
