Gold and silver minerals in exploited gossans. Cuba

Abstract
The objective of this study was to characterize the minerals in the gossans of four deposits in operation and to draw attention to their role in the efficiency parameters of the plants. Aspect that should continue to be investigated for each specific deposit. The results determined, in addition to the native gold and silver, the existence of other minerals that carry these elements. The characteristics of native gold and silver and these minerals are analyzed, such as their size, interrelations with other minerals (oxidized, primary and secondary sulfides, clay minerals), and their location in the weathering profile. Among the sources used in addition to the bibliography that is cited, the unpublished archival information on the mineralogical and metallurgical characterization obtained by the CIPIMM investigations, results of the IGP mineralogy group and foreign companies stands out, in addition to the data of the geologists who they worked on the scans. It is concluded that in the exploited deposits classified as immature, not only do native gold and silver appear, but that other mineralogical forms that carry gold and silver have been regularly determined, such as electrum, mixtures of gold - silver - copper - mercury, halides and tellurides.
