EDITORIAL POLICY

INFOMIN is a publication designed primarily for all professionals linked to the Mining and Metallurgical Mining Industry, which covers all the basic aspects of Science and Technology of mining, metallurgy and disciplines for earth science purposes. Its mission is to publish unpublished works in Spanish, English and Portuguese that are not under evaluation processes of any other journal on the topics: development of Technologies for the metallurgical mining industry, Mining, recovery of minerals, recovery and benefit of gold production, nickel and cobalt, silver, copper, lead and zinc, ferrous metals, activated carbon, industrial minerals, metallurgy, hydrometallurgy, pyrometallurgy, material characterization, mineralogical studies, petrographic studies, optical microscopy, X-ray diffraction, new materials and nanotechnology, environment, chemical analysis, quality management, knowledge management and industrial property. As well as themes associated with geosciences in a general sense.

WORK REFERRAL

Articles submitted to the journal must be original, unpublished and not simultaneously submitted to other journals or editorial bodies. They must be sent via email to the address isalgado@cipimm.minem.cu. They will be contained in “.docx” files of the Word word processor, with paper size 8.5 x 11 inches, and margins at 2.5 cm. For its conformation, the 12-point Arial font, 1.5 line spacing, should be used in a single column.

Each collaboration must be preceded by a content sheet with the following information: Title of the work, name of the author (s) entity where he works, positions and teaching or scientific category, address of the work center, in case of authors with different affiliation, will be identified with consecutive numerical superscripts located at the end of the author's name and at the beginning of their respective affiliation in a paragraph located after the authors of the work, email, telephone and a brief curriculum summary of each of the authors where Describe: nationality, specialty, place and date of graduation, name and address of the institution where you worked and work, scientific category, scientific degree, professional experience, most important recognitions, professional affiliation, other data that you consider important and Identity Code of ORCID (ID ORCID is registered on the web https://orcid.org/register)

 

The Editorial Committee will be obliged to return the works that do not meet the publication requirements, once submitted to the editorial opinion.

The submission of each work must be accompanied by a letter signed by the author stating:

FIRST: That I am the author of the article whose title was previously declared, and consequently the main responsible for it.

SECOND: All natural persons who have contributed substantially in the realization of the work have been declared as authors and there is no conflict of interest between any of them for which I submit the Declaration of Possible Conflicts of Interest Form established by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).

THIRD: I declare that this article is original and unpublished and therefore has been submitted exclusively to the Editorial Board of the journal, and does not contain sensitive or classified information of any natural or legal person.

FOURTH: That the authors of this work adhere to the guidelines established in the Code of Conduct and Good Ethical Practices of the journal and according to the same will resolve the different cases of controversy.

FIFTH: That I authorize the magazine to publish it without charge on my part, by the means or formats that the Editorial Committee determines in accordance with the Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial 4.0 (CC BY-NC) license.

ARBITRATION PROCESS

Contributions sent to the Scientific Articles section are subject to peer review, using the double-blind mode, that is, the manuscripts are received by the editor of the journal and then sent to the arbitrators, both the evaluators and the authors. of the manuscripts remain anonymous during the evaluation process. The editor receives the report of the arbitrators through the Arbitration Form and subsequently informs the author of the opinion, not detailing the name of the arbitrators. This Arbitration system guarantees greater impartiality of the decision.

The evaluators can recommend to the Editorial Committee that the article be:

• Accepted.
• Accepted with modifications.
• Rejected.

The other contributions will be published at the discretion of the Editorial Committee

In the case of suspicion or failure to comply with some of the good ethical practices established in the Journal Code and other cases of Dispute, we will proceed as established in the Flow Diagrams of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) for each case.

In the evaluation process the referees will take into account the following parameters:

• Originality: If the contribution is new and original, through the use of anti-plagiarism processes.
• Title: Concise, specific, with adequate syntax and that reflects the content of the work in no more than 15 words.
• Summary / Abstract: That expresses the objective, methods, main results and conclusions with full correspondence between them.
• Keywords / Key words: No more than 5 words, all necessary, standardized and descriptive of the content with correspondence between them.
• Introduction: Clearly define the problem, the scope and objective of the research, the state of the art and how it has been addressed by other researchers.
• Materials and Methods: That they express the quantity and quality of the materials used, that the methodology used and the experimental conditions are pertinent to the stated objective, and if the statistical analyzes are mentioned and are appropriate.
• Results and Discussion: That the results are clearly exposed and presented in a logical way with the help of images, tables and figures. That the interpretations are correct and the relationship between the data obtained is highlighted. If there is a contrast between the results and those of other published works, and if the possible theoretical and / or practical implications are highlighted in a way that supports the conclusions.
• References: That adequate sources of scientific information be used and that these present an adequate percentage of current affairs. That the citations in the text and the bibliography are correctly established according to the bibliographic style of the magazine.
• Images, Tables and Figures: All necessary, intelligible, self-explanatory and high quality, timely presented in the body of the work.
• English: Suitable for compression of the title, abstract and keywords.
• Dimensions: You can enlarge, reduce or eliminate parts of the work.

AUTHOR DECLARATION

The authors must be placed in descending order, according to the percentage of participation of each one in the work. Only those persons who contributed substantially in the conception of the idea and design of the study, in the acquisition and analysis of the data, and in the writing of the article or its intellectual critical review will be considered authors. Authors must possess sufficient knowledge of the research that was conducted and therefore be able to argue it scientifically. The names of the people who have provided technical support to the work or general supervision of the research group and of the institutions that provided the funding will be placed in the acknowledgments. Only substantial contributions will be accepted. The main author is directly responsible for correctly assigning the co-authorship and acknowledgments, as well as the absence of "guest authors", a practice that penalizes the journal.

STRUCTURE OF CONTRIBUTIONS

The structure of the papers presented will vary depending on the type of document. Scientific articles must have:

• Title in Spanish and English (up to 15 words).
• Authors
• Standardized affiliations according to Wayta (http://wayta.scielo.org/), and must also contain the state or province and country.
• Email of the author for correspondence.
• Abstract / Abstract (up to 200 words)
• Keywords / Key words (up to 5 in Spanish and English). It is recommended to use the UNESCO Thesaurus (http://skos.um.es/unescothes/view.php?fmt=1 )   for the standardization of the keywords  used.
• Introduction
• Materials and methods
• Results and Discussion
• Conclusions
• Thanks
• References

Bibliographic reviews and reviews must have the same structuring of scientific articles, but without Materials and Methods, nor Results and Discussion. Instead, the author can add the sections that he considers necessary. In the letters to the Editor you can not miss the title in Spanish and English, authors, their affiliations and the author's mail for correspondence.

Use of tenses

Keep in mind that each of the sections are written in:

• Introduction in present
• Materials and Methods in the past
• Results in the past and the Discussion in the present
• Conclusions in the present

Images, graphs and tables

• For any document, the images, graphs and tables presented will be arranged consecutively with Arabic numerals and their titles are placed using highs and lows without a period at the end.
• They must be self-explanatory and their information should not be replicated anywhere else in the job.
• The images will be delivered in separate files, in addition to being inserted in the document after their mention in the text, and must have a resolution of 300 pixels / inches.
• The graphics will be presented in only two dimensions (2D) with their respective axes and legends, while the series can be differentiated with colors or black and white labels. The tables will be in editable format, with the first row in bold, without dividing lines between the content and with their clarifications at the end and centered.

Nomenclature and Units

Authors must follow internationally accepted rules and conventions for the treatment of units of measure such as the International System of Units. When any abbreviation is used, its meaning should be clarified following its first mention.

Mathematical formulas

Mathematical equations will be sent as editable text and not as images. Small fractional terms should be presented simply on a single line using the “/” instead of a horizontal line, for example, X / Y. In principle, the variables should be presented in italics. The powers are more convenient to express as exponents. All equations that are not inserted into the text must be numbered consecutively with their respective mention in the text.

Title

• You must be concise and able to present the essential content of the article to the reader.
• 15 words as maximum extension.
• It should not be overloaded with information in abbreviations, symbols, formulas or unknown characters or place of study.
• Do not use a two-way or literary phrase.
• Remove subtitles and all nonspecific words.
• A neutral approach writing style should be used, that is, the result to be obtained should not be suggested.

Summary / Abstract

• It must be the abbreviated representation of the document content.
• You must synthesize the central aspects included in each of the sections of the document in a maximum of 200 words, so that you can: establish the problem, interest and objective of the investigation. You must describe, without details, the materials chosen, the methods used and summarize the main results (only these), as well as state the main conclusions.
• It should not refer to figures, tables and bibliographic citations. You should not include information that is not described in the work, or start with the objective without first stating the problem situation.

Keywords

• Designate and identify the most important aspects discussed in the article. They serve to locate the information of interest and develop databases and subject indexes. A maximum of 5 will be written in order of importance to reflect the content of the document. It is recommended to use the UNESCO Thesaurus (http://skos.um.es/unescothes/view.php?fmt=1) for the standardization of the keywords used.

Introduction

• It will be brief, try to use the main keywords and go from the general to the particular.
• You must establish the contextual framework in which the problem to be solved is inserted, what is known and what is unknown about the matter in question, what will economically, socially, technologically and scientifically represent the research, and with cluir With the objective of work.
• The three paragraph scheme can be used: in the first one, the contextualization and the background will be exposed, in the second the why it is necessary to study the problem, and in the third the objective.

Materials and methods

• You must provide sufficient information so that the investigation can be replicated, and unnecessary descriptions will be avoided.
• It is necessary to mention the materials used that determined quantitatively or qualitatively to obtain the data, not the instruments used.
• Regarding the methods, three possible scenarios must be taken into account:
  • When the method is standard, simply mention it and place the bibliographic reference.
  • When the method is not standard, but has been used before, discuss why it is necessary to use it and put the bibliographic reference where the method is described.
  • When the method has been generated or adapted for the study, describe it completely or at least the transformed part.
• This section can be organized into five areas that include:
• Environment: Indicates where the study has been done.
• Design: Describe the design of the experiment.
• Population: Characterize the sample and how it has been made and selected.
• Interventions: Describes the techniques, methods, measurements and units, equipment and technology.
• Statistical analysis: Mention the statistical programs and methods used. The programs are referenced.
• The subtitles used to name the areas are freely selectable by the authors, examples: General conditions, Treatments, Measurements, Statistical Analysis.

Results and Discussion

• Do not show data that is not clearly related to the objective of the work.
• The research data are shown in figures and tables, which must be self-explanatory and be identified with captions and source of the same
• While the table gives precision, the figures provide a clearer visual impact of the effects of treatments and trends and interactions.
• The two central elements of the discussion are to indicate what the findings mean and how these findings relate to what has been known until then.
• In the discussion the data of the figures and tables should not be repeated.
• Make clear the principles, relationships and extrapolations that could be derived from the results. Note the exceptions.
• Indicate how the results and their interpretations agree, or conflict with other scientific research.
• Present the theoretical implications of the work and the practical applications that it could have.

Conclusions

• Highlight the main implications of the data obtained in the investigation and not make a statistical count of the values shown.
• In all cases they must be justified by the qualitative assessment of the data presented in the body of the article.

Bibliographic references

In the "References" section, it is very common that the metadata of the documents used are incomplete and not presented with the homogeneity established by the bibliographic style of the journal. In this way, in the arbitration processes various errors are held by omission of mandatory filling elements such as: publication date, publishers and responsible institutions, standardized identifiers (ISSN, ISBN, DOI), places of publication, pages and electronic addresses. On the other hand, the names of the authors are placed incorrectly and grammatical errors are presented in the writing of the titles.

The general features of the style are presented below:

• It is cited in the text according to the author-year form.
• The bibliography is organized alphabetically from the first letters of the last name of the main author.
• In the bibliographical references the authors are presented in the short form.
• The year of publication is placed after the last author.
• The titles of the main works are in italics, and those of the contributions or derivative works in quotes.
• The elements of the bibliography are separated by a comma and a period is placed only after the authors, date and title.
• The publisher is placed after the place of publication and both are separated by a colon (:).

In the new update of the bibliographic style, some distinctive features of the previous style version were maintained, and the guidelines proposed by the Harvard standard were greatly respected. The miscellaneous that identify some metadata within the bibliographic references, were kept in the original language proposed by Harvard (English). This will allow you to standardize your treatment because the Harvard standard is developed for the English language, and most of the bibliographic styles derived from it follow this language. In addition, if in future actions the magazine is published in two languages (Spanish-English), there is no need to change the bibliographic style again.

To homogenize and facilitate the preparation of citations in the text and bibliographic references, a software was designed in CSL format (Citation Style Language), which will automatically manage the bibliography based on the original marking made by the information generating sites such as the databases and the Open Journal System (OJS) of the journals. This software is multiplatform since it works in various operating systems, it has UTF-8 character encoding, so it can be used by any type of word processor, and XML programming language, which allows interoperability between 38 open source bibliographic managers such as : Zotero, Papers, Mendeley, among others (CitationStyles.org, 2016). Bibliographic Requirements

For the preparation of the different types of documents, edited and published works should be used such as: articles of scientific journals, books, book chapters, articles in conferences (congresses, symposium, seminars, workshops and events, of which there are published at least the reports and therefore submit ISBN or URL), patents and standards, reports of internationally recognized institutions (FAO, UNESCO, among others) that present the corresponding standardized identifier (ISBN, ISSN or DOI), maps and images satellite, legal resources and computer programs. Regardless of this range of possibilities, for the preparation of any type of document, articles in scientific journals should be used to a greater extent since these constitute the central unit of science to issue its results.

Any other type of reference will not be allowed except for some statistical sites and digital data repositories such as the FAO Statistical Yearbook (FAOSTAT), the National Bureau of Statistics and Information (ONEI), among others. The references of each work must present a high percentage of topicality of the last 5 years according to (Price, 1965), except for the cases of the bibliographic reviews where the references must cover a wide range of time by the type of study that is intended to be carried out. Autocites, both by the author and the journal, should not exceed 20% of the literature consulted since Testa (2016), states that 85% of the list of JCR Science Edition journals have citation rates below 15%.

Style Features

Quotes in the Text

Within the text, the author-year form (eg Cervantes, 2016) is cited by placing a comma “,” between the author's last name and the year of publication. If the quotation is made up of two authors, the signature last names of each one are separated by the “&” symbol and then the year (eg Cervantes & Alfonso, 2016). In cases where the quotation is made up of more than two authors, “et al.” Should be italicized after the last name of the principal author followed by the year (eg Cervantes et al., 2016). If the same author (s) with more than one publication in the same year is cited separately in the body of work, the works should be differentiated by placing the letters "a", "b" as appropriate. In cases where a corporate author is cited, the abbreviated form of the name must be placed (eg FAO, 2016).

If the quotation is composed of multiple sources, that is, for more than one work, a semicolon “;” should be used to separate each one (eg Cervantes, 2014; Alfonso, 2015; Alonso, 2016). The citations to multiple sources that present the same authors, but different years of publication, will be placed using the last name of the main author, according to the different forms mentioned above, followed by the years separated by comma “,” (eg Cervantes, 2015, 2016). If in the multiple source, in addition to the name of the authors, the year of publication coincides, but these are different works, the quotation will be placed in the manner described above but after each year letters “a”, “b” will be added according to correspond (eg Cervantes, 2016a, 2016b). In the latter case, the years of publication in the references must also be accompanied by these letters in order to differentiate the works.

Bibliographic references

In the bibliographic references three settlement groups are distinguished. A first group formed by complete non-serial works that are characterized by presenting within their metadata a single title such as: books, standards and patents, computer programs, reports, maps, legal resources and web pages of statistical sites. A second group consisting of contributions and works contained within the complete non-serial publications of the first group such as: sections or chapters of a book, conference articles (congresses, symposium, seminars, workshops and events), and encyclopedias and dictionaries entries. And a third group consisting of contributions in serial works such as: articles in scientific journals.

First group of documents

In general, bibliographic references belonging to the documents of the first group have the following main features:

• Authors: The names of the authors are presented in the short form, placing the signature last name and the initials of the second last name and the name (s) delimited by point “.”. To separate the authors when they are more than two, and to delimit the main surname from the initials, the comma “,” is used. The “&” symbol is always placed before the last author.
• Date: Only the year of publication separated by a dot “.” Is placed after the last initial of the last author and another when its last digit ends.
• Title: It is placed in italics always respecting the original grammar and is delimited from the next element with a period.
• Place of publication and editorial or responsible institution: Both elements are mandatory and separated by two points: "." The place of publication is set up ascending the city and then the country, and both elements are separated by comma ",". The publishing house or issuing institution is placed next to the colon and does not carry any miscellaneous.
• Pages: What is recorded is the total number of pages presented by the work followed by the miscellaneous “p.”. It is a very frequent error to put the page or the range of pages where the information used is located. This should not be done because then only one section of the work is being referenced; and therefore, what has to be quoted is that section and not the complete work.
• Standardized numbering: The standardized identifier assigned to this group of publications is the ISBN (International Standard Book Number), and as its name implies, it is assigned to non-serial works such as books, software, reports, and maps. It is a mandatory filling element in those references that have it, as this allows you to easily retrieve all the metadata of the reference. Patents, reports and laws are assigned a specific numbering that is not precisely the ISBN, but must also be mandatory.
• Electronic address: This address indicates the position on the Web of the document that is cited and must be accompanied by the date of consultation. Whenever the documents used have it, they must be placed in order to verify the information. It is a frequent practice not to place the full address because it becomes very long and this is considered an error because in that case the document cannot be reached.

Second group of documents

The second group consists of contributions and works contained within the complete non-serial publications of the first group such as: sections or chapters of a book, conference articles, and encyclopedias and dictionary entries. For this reason, many of its metadata such as: date, place of publication and editorial, standard numbering and electronic addresses have the same characteristics of the documents presented in the previous group. However, the treatment of authors, titles and pages changes, its main characteristics are:

• Authors: The treatment of names and surnames is the same as that of the previous group, the difference is that two types of responsibility will coexist within the same reference. The first authors will be responsible for the section or chapter that is being referenced and placed before the year; and the second authors are responsible for the complete work and are placed after the “In:” section and before the title of the main work. The roles of this secondary responsibility may be the authors of the book, editors, compilers and translators.
• Titles: This group of documents is distinguished from the rest by presenting two titles. The first is placed in quotes and in rounds, and represents the title of the chapter or section being referenced. The second title belongs to that of the main work that contains this section; and therefore, it is italicized in the same way as explained in the previous group.
• Pages: In this case, as part of a work is being referenced, the range of pages in which it is located, preceded by “pp.” Must   be set. In   case it is only one page, “p.” Is placed before the number.

Book section

Third group of documents

As explained previously, the third group consists of contributions in serial works such as articles in scientific journals. Its main features are:

• Authors and Year: The authors and the year of publication receive the same treatment as those of the first group.
• Titles: This type of document has two titles. The first is the title of the specific document that was used to extract the information and goes in quotes and in rounds; and the second is the title of the serial publication, that is, the name of the magazine, which is italicized.
• Volume and Fascicle: In this case as it is a serial publication, its content is grouped into volumes that almost always have an annual regularity, within which there are several numbers. Therefore, when this type of publication is to be referenced, it is important to offer the volume number, and the issue number to be able to go directly to the place in the series where the document used is located.
• Pages: Once the place of the series where the document is located, it is necessary to have the range of pages in which the document is inserted. Therefore, in this type of publication, the range of pages in which the document is preceded by a colon ":" must be placed next to the issue number.
• Standardized numbering: Articles in scientific journals have two standardized identifiers, the ISSN (International Standard Serial Number) and the DOI (Digital Object Identifier). The first is mandatory and is unique for each type of serial publication. A serial publication may present more than one ISSN depending on the format in which it is issued; for example, an ISSN for the paper version and another for the electronic version. The second is a digital identifier that makes it possible to directly locate the document on the Web, and retrieve all the metadata of the reference used.
